Professional wanderer, photographer and geek
Welcome to my first post , who on earth am I?
Well, my name is Ollie, in my day job I’m a pilot. So I’m lucky that I get to go all over the world. I also have a passion for photography. I’m based in Glasgow, I love taking photo’s of all sorts of things, from stolen moments to incredible architecture from all over the world.
I was first introduced to photography at college. I discovered an old camera in the art storeroom and decided to give it a go. I emptied a cupboard and painted it black, viola, my first darkroom. I was entirely self-taught and got through countless rolls of film and photo paper before I was even remotely happy with the results. I remember being so chuffed when one of my photos made a local exhibition.
After an unintended break from photography, I finally got back into it last year. I was getting to see so many beautiful places, and I wanted to be able to share it, plus I felt I needed a hobby. It also gave me an excuse to go exploring!
So off I went snapping again. I tend to favour mirrorless camera, but predominantly because they tend to be more compact than their predecessors. I’m still self-taught and trying to figure my way around photoshop; it’s very different from my old darkroom. For the moment I’m just looking forward to improving and developing my photography skills while keeping an eye out for the next adventure!
Also, if you’re ever after advice as to where you should travel to on your next trip; I’m always happy to oblige. But I will tell you now that the top of my list is always Japan. I love the place if you haven’t been, you need to!
